Underwater Cleaning and Inspection Technology

Inspection

For many years now, Dassyloi has provided municipalities and treatment plants with the capability of inspecting and cleaning potable water reservoirs in operation.

Tank and Reservoir inspection are carried out using a VideoRay ROV, a remote-controlled submersible vehicle equipped with a wide-angle colour camera that will inspect and record footage from the surface down to 76 meters without disturbing sediment or interrupting service. The submarine operator has full control of speed, direction and lights. The ROV’s compact dimensions and high manouvrability allow it to penetrate areas where human divers could not enter safely, inspecting for leaks, corrosion, sediment level, coating condition, and assessing the general condition of the tank.

Cleaning

Traditional cleaning processes meant that potable water reservoirs had to be emptied and manually cleaned or divers sent down. The reservoir had to be taken offline, which can lead to major disruptions in the main supply system. The WEDA robotic cleaning system employed by Dassyloi allows the reservoir to be cleaned without interruption of service.

The WEDA Cleaning Robot is remote-controlled and equipped with rotating brushes and a powerful pump that removes loosened sediment without raising turbidity in the reservoir. The robot is equipped with a video camera that facilitates inspection during the cleaning process.

This process ensures that the water system can be cleaned and inspected safely and efficiently.
